Snowball Club is in charge of planning Red Ribbon Week and the bi-annual Mock Car Crash. Students have been successful in creating clever dress up days and uniting the school in raising awareness. Every year an officer comes to Lakes to discuss different drug or alcohol related issues that are prevalent in our society. Before attending Prom, upperclassmen get to experience a mock crash with their peers involved as victims; this experience is very eye opening.

About Ms. De Joy: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Elmhurst College, passionate about travel, culture, entertaining and educating the young minds of tomorrow. This will be year four of teaching and I could not imagine life without the numerous adolescents I see on a daily basis.
I chose to take on the role of snowball club sponsor because I am passionate about leading students to a healthy and safe lifestyle. When I was in high school, a peer killed a younger student in a terrible drunk driving accident. The school was divided in half after this tragic occurrence; both students attended the same high school. I knew after that accident that I wanted to be involved in educating students about the dangers of being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
