The Eagles played a good game on both sides of the ball to prevail 1-0 over a comparable Prairie Ridge Squad. Despite the good and multiple chances to score, the Eagles got the deciding goal from center back, Tessa Smith, on a direct kick at goal from some 40 yards out that the goalie misplayed and found the back of the net.
When The Eagles play the Grayslake North Knights in boys or girls soccer, the contests are always tight games where a moment there or there decides the outcome. This game was no different. Though the Eagles played well and defended well throughout the game in getting a two goal lead at the beginning of the second half, the Knights were able to get two back with by pouncing on second chances in the box to tie the game. No doubt the wind made it very difficult for the Eagles to get any momentum in the second half which allowed North chance after chance at the Lakes goal. Lakes goals were scored Brighton Callaway and Amanda Dietz with assists going to Carolyn Monaco and Nicole Varga.
The Eagles took on Grant today and prevailed 7-0. Lakes player, Gretchen Good got the Eagles on the board, and then Other players got in on the score: Carolyn Monaco got three goals, Sarah Lucier and Michela Hopkins each got a goal too along with Lily Erwin.
